This is a distribution logo, one i found on google, ive inspired myself from it to create our own original distribution logo. This logo has a simple and bold shape to it, "triple vision" has 3 shaped like arrows coming out, ive based ours on this similar design, "way forward" has an arrow pointed forward, simple.

Online photo editors such as FotoFlexer allow us to use the 'comic' option, which means we can transform our characters so that they appear to be a part of a comic storyboard.  In our mock poster we used a cartoon character therefore this effect will allow us to create a similar outcome.

Friday 25 November 2011

This is our mock up poster for our production package. The main charcter is pictured using a low angle camera shot. This is to give the appearance that he is superior to the audience, plus lets off a slightly intimidating feel to the viewer. We also placed the character in front of the title to give the same effect as the low angle shot gives. The names of the cast are at the bottom of the poster only, therefore showing the audience the actors and actresses of the film. The tagline is 'the nerds time to shine ' this is due to the fact they are usually sterotyped as being on the bottom of the social scale, therefore this gives a clue to our narrative. We masked the distribution companies in order to place them at the bottom of our poster, distribution companies are important as they may engage audiences that have seen previous films by these companies plus help us to identify the genre e.g Chicken Run by Pathe is also a comedy.

The title 'Who let the nerds out?' is a pun on the well known song 'Who let the dogs out?' by Baha Men. This is ironic as it is a song that the stereotype shown would not engage in listening to. As this is not commonly perceived as their type of music. The glow used is also very effective within our poster as usually 'nerds' are seen almost as invisible plus as social outcasts, in other words their presence is normally either ignored or ridiculed. However this glow highlights the character to show he is present and also to show he is a powerful character. The font used has been chosen very carefully. For the 'NERD' in the title we used a symmetrical and conservative font to represent the nerds, who are usually neat and tidy and dressed quite conservative, the tagline also uses this type of font to convey this idea to the audience. His facial expression is displaying anger, which again gives an insight into our narrative as it is anger and frustration which leads the nerds to start a revolution.

Monday 21 November 2011

This is a parody song which lists all the things that make the character 'nerdy'. he accepts that he is 'white and nerdy' and explains everything he does which brings other people to this conclusion.
This can help us because we can look at what is considered nerdy and add these aspects to our characters.

Friday 18 November 2011

this music video contains ideas that we could incorporate into our film. the lay out of it is that there are five outcasts in a school and they join together to get revenge on the people who made them feel like outsiders

Monday 7 November 2011

These are our location shots for the chavs

we have decided to film at these locations because it looks run down which adds the 'living on the line' feel for the chavs and because makes a good location for our chav characters to hang out.

Monday 31 October 2011

The ideas we have had for music are to have a piano/violin piece playing slowly at the beginning whilst the nerdy children are being bullied in slow motion.

the piano piece in this song is one that we like and so i am going to make one that is similar that will fit our trailer

At the point when the nerds decide to become cool the music will change and become and upbeat more modern which is to symbolise the change in the nerds.

Our treatment

Sophisticated brain-boxes attempt to join ‘the chavs’ of the school, however this proves to be a challenge as they struggle to fit in.

They ultimately come up with a plan that will get them in the ‘in crowd’ they get tricked into thinking they get accepted, but in reality they’re just a temporary amusement for the chav's. The chav's have an initiation test for each member of the nerds, of which ends up showing their true intentions: to cause them harm and to humiliate them.
The nerds end up figuring it out and fight back earning respect from the chavs (however they still get beaten up) and a higher social status in school.

Nerd's names: Arty, Olga, Hilda and Neville
Chav's names: Dazza (Dwayne), Tyrelle and Chontellaniqua

Conventions

Convention of a Trailer

The basic convention of a film trailer is to introduction of the plot, establishment of the main characters, introduce the setting, establish genre, build tension and given an brief explanation of the situation the characters are in. We should aim to leave the audience with questions to gain their interest in the upcoming film and to keep

them thinking about it. Editing is very important in a trailer. The narrative structure should generally introduce (characters and setting) show conflict/ problem that characters have gotten themselves into, this is followed by the climax of the trailers where the problem is somewhat resolves.

Convention of a Film Magazine

A conventional film poster has a dominate image , Masthead (name of magazine), tagline, Coverline (this tells the audience what’s in the magazine, date and cover price and a barcode ( offers that help promote the magazine.

Convention of a Film Poster

Film posters generally have a tagline, a dominate image, the film’s title, release date cast/stars and the directors name. Some films posters may have all these however some only have a few.

  • This makes us aware that editing and music is key in attracting the audience, this tells us that we have to experiment with different editing techniques to keep the audience interested in our trailer.

Before we composed out questionnaire we decided to do a comedy, the results help us to know that our target audience prefer comedies so that shows that there is a larger market for comedies. This can also help us decide if we want to create a hybrid genre for our media promotional package or not and what genre we would combine to allow our audience to get what they want.

We asked male and female students questions about what trailers, film posters, magazine and movie genres to get an insight into what interest people to go see a film. These are the question that we believe gives us and insight into what the audience may want from our promotional package. We will attempt to incorporate as much of what the majority of our audience said they liked into our final products.

Trailers

These are some of the trailers we have watch to give us inspiration for our media trailer. We looked at the music, the representation of certain characters (mostly the nerd/underdog) the timing of clips shown in the trailer and the convention of the trailers. These Trailers helped to build ideas of how we want to portray our characters and it help us gain an general understanding of what has been successful in comedies.
